Our Legal Duties

Contenido de sección The Legal Duties of the Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL), in accordance with the Federal Telecommunications Law, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on 7 June 1995, and resulting from the amendments to this Law and the Federal Radio and Television Law, on 11 April 2006, the Federal Telecommunications Commission is the decentralized administrative agency of the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT), with technical, operational, financial and managerial independence with responsibility for regulating, promoting and supervising the efficient and broad social coverage of telecommunications and broadcasting in Mexico, with full autonomy in its decision-making process. COFETEL’s current Internal Regulation entered into force on 5 January 2006 and describes the Commission’s organizational structure in handling matters within its area of competence.
